Chicks and the Farm

The consensus of the class this week was, Where did the week go? It went fast with great fun. Look at the chicks, was the phrase children announced to other arriving classmates Monday morning. Hearing their excitement, the children were invited to observe the chicks for five minutes and then write about their observations. Needless to say each child's writing was different and each was well written! Wow, these children express themselves well as writers. Continue to give them special moments to write in the Summer Journals this summer. We spent some of our week doing assessments for the children's end of the year reports. They all enjoyed the challenge and I was thrilled with their efforts and outcomes. We completed another entry in the Chick Diary book and will soon enter the last one, early next week, when the chicks go to their new home, Mrs. Muggli's Egg Barn. The children completed reading word family books in pairs this week and enjoyed the experience. We'll do it again soon. Several children shared books that they written with friends this week. They work and play so well with one another. We've almost completed the formation of all alphabet letters on lined paper. We continue reviewing our fifteen word families. Please continue to play the word family games with your child this summer. We enjoyed Max's Special Person Day. The children each had their picture taken with a chick. You'll have a opportunity to see them soon. I would like to thank Charlie, Lilian, Natey and Max for sharing their moms with us on our field trip to Green Meadows Farm. We had a GREAT time enjoying the animals and having a wonderful day in which to experience our adventure. I'll let the picture album speak for itself. It may take a while to upload them. Please send in baby food, peanut butter, etc. for the Hunger Task Force, before Wednesday. Don't forget The White Elephant Sale, Friday the 28th. See you soon!

  1. Dear Farmer Camp and the SK Farmers,
I smiled as I looked through all the pictures from Green Meadows. You all had so much fun petting and learning about the animals there; not to mention the pony rides, the hay ride and lunch outside. Wow! What a fun day. I love watching how each of you loves to explore and learn. That should never change!! Keep up the great learning and always ask questions and be inquisitive!
    Hugs, Mrs. Jochmann
