Outstanding Opening for Four SK Businesses !

Glittering snowballs were the final detail added before the grand opening of our business, Artarctic Slush. The employees checked to see that their stations were in order and ready to go. The opening was a huge success and customers raved about the Cherry/ Blue-Raspberry Slushes and the snowballs. The winter theme and the Antarctic sence were mentioned often. Hip, Hip Hooray for a productive and meaningful study! The children visited Cocoa Express, Yummy Treats Surprise, and The SK Bowling Alley throughout the remainder of the week. Each business was designed with many special features, a great floor plan,
enthusiactic employees and managers, and outstanding products. All sixty-seven students and their teachers agreed that economic study was a tremendous success. Again, a big thank you to Dairy Queen, Rosemary, Reily, and Ell's moms for their expertise and support. The class also participated in an ice skating lesson. They did a terrific job balancing Beanie Babies on their shoulders and later participated in a variety of skills while gliding through a challenging obstacle course. We received a National Geographic Kids issue on penguins just in time to add to our study. The book is filled with information your child will treasure. When it comes home please place it in a special spot and read it with your family often. Antarctic adventurer, Dixie Dansercoer, is a good friend of the Rosemary's family. The children fortunate enough to view the DVD, In the Wake of the Belgrica, which recreated the twenty landings that Adrien Gerlache and his multinational crew experienced 110 years ago as they set sail from Belgium to Antarctica. Wow! The Share and Show night was a huge success. Thanks for exploring lower school in such a special way on such an Antarctic-like evening. Family Skate went well. The children had a great time with friends and families on and off of the ice. A note will be sent with parking suggestions before our next event Friday, February 5th. O0ps, calendar error, our last Family Skate in February 19th, so please cross off the 26th! The class wrote two entries for their scrapbooks, reviewed the formation of numbers 0-9, and explored several math and literacy games/centers. Please read The Big Ram with your child and create words from the ig, am, op, an, and ot word families. Plan to attend Put a Face on First Grade Wednesday the 3rd. The children made adorable winter pictures for the event. Have a cozy warm weekend!
