Our Very Hungry Caterpillar storyboards took front and center as our week began. The children used their cutting skills as they selected various fruit, cut them out and glued them on their storyboards. The anticipation of telling the story to our "second grade buddies" is right around the corner. That occasion will be a special one since tables changed and the SKers go longer greet and eat lunch with their buddies. Each class did however, write a note to express thanks to their special friends. Our children also sorted, labeled, and priced fruit items as they prepare to open a fruit stand next week. The children enjoyed another "first" this week. We visited the Blue Lab so the children could experience learning how do draw pictures and shares using a mouse. We plan to visit at least once a month to familarize them various aspects of technology! Where is Willy Willycat? That was the questioned that echoed in classrooms throughout the week. We prepared for Homecoming by decorating our doorway with patterned blue and gold chains, made WildCat paws, and learned "cheers" which I know you have heard recently! The lower school gathered in the gym to meet representatives from a variety of athletic teams. The event allowed athletes to remind our young children that setting goals, being respectful, working together, encouraging one another, and having fun are important aspects to a successful season. Suddenly there was stir in the gym and loud cheers began to erupt as Will Wildcat made his appearance. Willy greeted Mrs. Keily and soon had the entire room participanting in rigorous calisthentics, that is, until music filled the air and dance moves began to liven up the room. When Willy finally waved goodbye and headed out the door everyone wondered when would we see Willy again. The Fun Run was great! Third grade buddies from Mrs. Feldner's room ran with our class and had a successful but exhausting time. But, no one saw Willy! We returned to our room just in time to invite parents and our buddies to gather at The Butterfly Garden to release a butterfly on his journey to Mexico, and yes, we named that butterfly Willy Wildcat! Rumblings were that Will had to get ready for Homecoming events and wouldn't be available to visit. We were disappointed but understood Willy had a big weekend coming up soon. However, on Thursday afternoon at recess there he was, Willy the WildCat. As he greeted each child, a photograph and a class picture was taken. Willy even took a picture with the whole SK grade level. Wow! What a memorable week! GO WILDCATS!
