A huge thanks to each family for going on Nature walks to collect fall leaves last weekend. We appreciated all the helping hands that came and assisted the children in painting their leaves and creating the lovely leaf hangings which now adorn our classroom. Later in the week, the class enjoyed a math lesson by randomly selecting leaf prints and matching them to the leaf collages in the classroom. Each child wrote a terrific journal entry depicting their leaf collecting adventure. Please stop by and view the classroom and our hall bulletin board to learn more about this project. As the children arrived at school this week, they matched pictures with beginning sounds. They also revisited this skill at literacy center this week. Soon we will explore pictures with ending sounds. We began our study of the life cycle of a pumpkin and in the upcoming weeks will make an adapted version of
Pumpkin, Pumpkin to read and illustrate. The book may even contain some of the research experiments that the children will do with their pumpkins after our field trip to Barthels on Tuesday. Please remember to send newspaper for your child to sit upon while doing research and a pillow case for carrying his/her pumpkin back school. Please dress for the weather, including boots! Although the children brought their butterfly treasures home to share with you, they are still having great fun exploring the
Caterpillar Munch Shop. Oh yes, didn't you enjoy the pictures of the butterfly plate the children created for the upcoming
Kids' Creation Auction during the
Christmas and Holiday Show. We concluded our week with Natey's mom, as a guest reader, sharing the story of
Gruffalo with us. Enjoy the beauty of fall this weekend! Hip, Hip, Hooray U R Terrific!
Dear Mrs. Camp and the SK class,
ReplyDeleteFall is such a fun season and I can see that you are enjoying many of the best things- beautiful leaves, a trip to the pumpkin farm and experiments on your pumpkins. Pretty fun stuff.
Our family loved getting Lilian's art bag last week and getting to sit for the "art show" of all the work you girls and boys did about caterpillars. WOW!
Hugs and have a super duper week! Mrs. Jochmann
Hi Mrs. Camp and the SK class. Macy and I loved coming into the class and helping with the leaf hangings. Your classroom now truly does look like fall.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing al the art that each of you did during your caterpillar study. Well done!
