The short hiatus that was took from the blog was due to assessments and report cards that have recently been completed. Your teacher eagerly await the opportunity to talk and discuss the progress that your child has made since November conference. After 100th Day activities the children quickly became involved in Valentine's Day preparations. The children assured me that their had written Valentine reached you home and that the hand made paper mache' Valentines were a hit! The class had great fun tallying candy hearts, opening Valentines while chit-chatting and giggling, laughing, and thanking one another for the cards. The next day the class wrote terrific scrap book pages about Valentine's Day in SK! That week we also reviewed a number of skills in preparation for reports. The skills included assessing the alphabet for beginning and ending pounds rhyming. , Word Family words including am, ap, at, ig, ip, ox, op, ox, recognition of sight words, and a writing sample. In math they wrote numbers 0-30. counted by twos, to twenty, backward twenty to zero, fives and tens to fifty or one hundred, recognition of numbers to fifty and counting zero to seventy-five. Other assessments were checked as well. The children have been investigating the value of weight by estimating which object is more or less than the other. The love the activity! The children were eager for class to begin after their long weekend and wrote amazing entries about the exciting adventurer they has enjoyed! Hip, Hip, Hooray for their enthusiasm as writers and the opportunity for them to enjoys such special moments with family and friends. In preparation for our visit to the Dinosaur Exhibit at the Milwaukee Public Museum, the children made dinosaur bone bandannas. The dinosaur visit was GREAT! A big thank to Abigail's dad and Jimmy, Jackson, and Skip's moms for being such terrific chaperons during our visit to the museum. Hunter demonstrated to tools a palaeontologist uses when going on a dinosaur dig and excavating the site. The children were also fortunate in being able to hold replicas of a tooth, claw, jaw, and a real sixty-five million year old vertebrate from a dinosaur! Wow what a wealth of knowledge the children gather on this special trip! The class concluded their ice skating lesson and family skate outing with their friends and families this week.
