Fall is in the Air
As our week began, the children revisited their old caterpillar name friends, but this week the emphasis was on spelling each child's name remembering to say: "Capital" when seeing the beginning letters of the first and last names. Sounds easy to us however, it is a new skill to most of the class. Throughout the week the class continues to read and illustrate their version of Pumpkin. Pumpkin. The end result will contain special treasures from our pumpkin study. Many thanks to Lauryn's grandmother who gave us pumpkin seeds for the children to count and tally. The pictures album shows that the children placed ten seeds in fifty cups plus six more. PLEASE send us your answer of how many seeds were in the cups. The children had their second experience using computers this week and they enjoyed it tremendously. Hip, Hip, Hooray, the experience of reviewing the handwriting stokes when forming letters has made an amazing impact on the children. The class was introduced to lined paper this week and did an amazing job. So its lined paper forever! (Perhaps that was a little overstated, we'll see). We revisited Golden Blossom, our SK Tree and as Jimmy's said. "The leaves are falling because it is windy." He was so right. This gave the class a perfect opportunity go crunching in the leaves and throwing leaves into the air. To make our room more festive the children made a holiday chain for the classroom. Of course we had to measure it and discovered that it was about forty feet long. They are hanging in the classroom and look terrific. Please remember to have your child wear his/her Halloween costume to school on Thursday and send a change of clothes for late in the morning. Please revisit our decodable book, I Nap and talk about the pets you may have had as a child or a good nap story. Play the name game and discover how many words you and your child can generate using the "ap" word family. Example cap flap etc. Please sign up for conferences soon! Go to my portal page and click on Mrs. A big thank you to Jackson's mom and Grace who came to school and read Allie the Allergic Elephant. It gave us an opportunity to learn how nut allergies effect children and how we can help Jackson this year. Lengh's desk for the link! Hope you had a great weekend. See you tomorrow!

500 and 6 seeds, Wow that is a lot of seeds! Pumpkins are so much fun. Bella gets to help carve hers this weekend. I wonder what kind of Jack-O-Lantern she will choose. Thanks for all of your great work this week.
