Spring is Visiting our Classroom

The class enjoyed discussing the special times they enjoyed with friends and family during Spring Break. Please feel free to bring journals or post cards to school anytime. With the feeling of spring in the air, we read The Rose in my Garden, a book which introduces children to a number of common flowers in a poetic manner. The storyline is cleverly done as well. We have begun making our own flower garden and will complete it soon. With chick eggs coming in a few week, the children painted a colorful nests and filled them with tiny eggs. They will be used to explore math activities for the next few weeks. We read and are reviewing the book, A is for Art in preparation for our upcoming field trip to the Art Museum. I would like to suggest that you purchase this book for you family library. Ask your child to become the Docent and take family and friends to the museum this summer and enjoy the wonderful hunt to find treasured art together. At our Assembly, members of the Florentine Opera were accompanied by a group of lower school Buttercups, (girls) and Thistles and Weeds, (boys) as they sang a chorus to one of the songs in Jack and the Bean Stalk. What a marvelous opportunity to see and hear a children's fairy tale performed in such a special manner. The class reviewed the formations of Dd and Ee on line paper and also reviewed the "at" and "ip" word families in two activities. The class read decodable book 10, Is it for Me? Please try to guess what is in the tan box before your child tells you! The children were thrilled to use calculators as they solveed number problems similar to those in the Math Home Link sheet that is in today's Friday Folder. The children continue to show interest in putting puzzles together. Max brought a challenging three dimensional earth puzzle and within three days the children had it solved and sitting on a pedestal! We concluded our week by viewing a play by Mrs. Feldner's third grade class. We then enjoyed Reily's special day activity. Wishing you all a wonderful spring weekend with friends and families. See you Monday!
