Dinosaur Fun!

Having an opportunity to share the progress of the children in my class with parents is a major responsibility, and it is one that I treasure and thoroughly enjoy. Many thanks to you for the informative and meaningful exchanges that occurred during our conferences held earlier this month. The class will continue to explore learning experiences presented in a fun and exciting manner as they continue their preparations for first grade. I was delighted that so many children enjoyed doing the Dinosaur Digestive Experiment. It was a great way so demonstrate in a simplistic manner how such huge replies who lived millions of years ago digested their food. By the way, did you know that we made a Stegosaurus Salad recipe and then found materials to create stegosaurus costumes after returning from our long weekend? So of course the children made the costumes, sang the stegosaurus song, and then followed the recipe and enjoyed eating a real Stegosaurus Salad. As parents you will appreciate the fact that many children just knew that they would not enjoy the prehistoric meal suggested by this group of herbivore dinosaurs, but Hip, Hip, Hooray each child tried it and most returned for seconds and yes, even thirds. The class also wrote what they would do if a dinosaur came back to visit them for a day. Their ideas were outstanding. Senora Oliveri is a terrific artist and during a visit helped the class create clay dinosaurs. These treasures will be glazed and an will then adorn our classroom after we return from Spring Break. I wonder if you knew that leprechauns invaded or classroom and played tricks on us as the week ended. They messed up the calendar, disrupted the locker room, left shamrocks all over the classroom and yes, took our huge dinosaur away. The class also solved addition and subtraction problems using shamrocks. The last thing the leprechauns did before leaving our classroom before was a shock! After returning from Assembly, the table was set for a Lucky Charm breakfast with green milk and a tally game. Wow! was that lots of fun! Please enjoy the treasures that you received from your child. Take time to share and celebrate It will be exciting to have the boys and girls share their Spring Break Journals when school begins, Monday, March 29th. Have a wonderful time sharing adventures with friends and family!
I'll attach photograph album after talking to "tech support." Picture Album is now ready! View Dinosaur Fun!

Happy Spring!

  1. Dear Mrs. Camp and The SK class,
Holy moly!! I have been busy and have not checked the blog for a few weeks and look at all I missed! You all have been so busy. Lilian told me so much about the Dinosaur salad and it was great to see a picture of it. Yummy for my tummy! I am in love with those clay dinosaurs you made and cannot wait to have one living in our house! Great work SK and thanks to Mrs. Camp and Senhora for bringing the dinosaurs back to life for all of you.

Lilian did not tell me much about the leprechauns so I giggled when I read all those April Fool's Day tricks. Silly, silly, silly!!

I loved seeing all of you yesterday. Your writing and your drawings amaze me. I am going to give you all a new nickname - "Smarty pants"!

    Hugs, Mrs. Jochmann
