Early in the week, the children created butterflies to add our
Spring Garden mural and helped hang it in the hallway for everyone to enjoy. Mrs. Lang came walking down the hallway just in time to have the children dance with delight and tell her that they were dedicating the mural to her as a
thank you for giving us such great tips on how to draw flowers. We even took a picture to remember the special occasion. As you can tell from the picture album most children shared their
Spring Journals this week so their journal entries were posted on the above mentioned bulletin board. By the way, this was the first time the children used line paper to document their work. In keeping with the spring theme, the children also wrote and illustrated what they do with friends and family during spring. You will find these entries posted in our classroom among two vases of flowers that several children decided create. Each morning after doing attendance and
Morning Me
ssage the children picked up calculators and reviewed counting by twos to 30, five and tens to 100, and 20-0 several times before our formal day began. This exercise was a bit more challenging than just counting and required the children to work carefully and independently while working with calculators. The review was a huge success. We practiced the formation of letters
Ee, Ff, and
Gg on line paper while reviewing various word families during the process. Of course researching and reviewing the information in
A is for Art was foremost in the minds of the children throughout the week. Our trip Wednesday, afternoon to the
Milwaukee Art Museum was outstanding. Our Docent was thrilled with the manners and knowledge the children shared with her throughout our visit. We were able to view twenty-five of the twenty-six art treasures pictured in the book and also viewed Raphael's,
The Woman in the Veil, which is currently on loan from Florence. What an experience! The Docent shared many little
tid-bits of information that others patrons may not have learned. Many thanks to Natey's mom and Ella's grandmother for chaperoning our museum visit. The very next morning at Assembly, middle school students invited us to celebrate
Shakespeare's birthday by listening to
scenes from
Mid-Summer Night's Dream, listening to music, and poetry, and watching a dance performance, all the presence of the Queen's Court. We also read decodable Book 9,
In the Van. We are spending time reading little books. If one comes home, please read it with your child and remember to return it quickly so another child may have the pleaure of reading it.
The Book Fair runs from the April 14-16. Please refer to the note in today's Friday Folder. Our class
Wish List is located in the L/S Library. Enjoy a terrific weekend!
Dear SK Art Experts and the Fabulous Mrs. Camp,
ReplyDeleteW-O-W! What a cool trip to the art museum! I loved seeing what each of you picked as your favorite piece from the A to Z book and what beautiful renderings of those pieces. I cannot wait to frame the picture Lilian drew of the grandfather, that is one of my favorites too. Lilian told me that Shakespeare and the Queen came to your school. Of course, I thought she was kidding, but now I see she was telling the truth. Amazing. I have been asking all year, but I will ask one more time......can I please please please be in SK?
Hugs, Mrs. Jochmann
