As our Monday morning began, the children were asked to select among several puzzles and work as team to complete them. You would have enjoyed watching the process. As the puzzles took shape a great deal of discussion, trial and error of puzzle piece placements, and teamwork took place among the children. Each group was proud that they worked together and completed their puzzle in a timely manner. Such an activity goes a long way in building class community, and hip hooray, this class is building a special community! The children are presently working on an activity which will give your family an opportunity to learn more about your child's classmates. The children continue to enjoy sharing their summer posters with one another as well. SK uses the Zaner-Bloser handwriting program throughout the year. This week the class was introduced to the basic stokes of: vertical and horizontal lines, backward and forward circles, and right and left slants. They were also given name models with arrows so they may learn learn the directionality of the stokes when printing. Two silly alphabet rhyming songs, A is for Alice, and Bubba's Best Friend keep the children giggling. Our caterpillars are munching and crunching, thus growing and growing. The children are learning the life cycle chant and the body parts of an insect. They enjoy observing the caterpillars with the magnifying glasses and are amazed at how fast they are growing. Your child had great fun decorating the book box you received Friday. Please keep it in a special place so friends and family members may review reading the books with your child often. Thanks to all of the children who brought in sharing items on their "leader of the day. " The grasshopper and tadpoles were neat nature items. Please note there is no SK Social September 24. Our Class Schedule and Blog is posted on the portal under my name. We would love to have your comments on the Blog often! Note: Picture albums will not be posted on our Blog for your viewing until after September 15. Enjoy a wonderful long weekend! See you Tuesday!
