Events Close to the Heart

Our 100th Day events continued as the children carefully measured, weighed, and glued their Collections on colorful circle boards and posted them on the bulletin board outside of our class room. Please stop by to view them when you have an opportunity. The activities associated with 100th Day required that each child worked independently, stay focused on the tasks at hand, and used their time management skills wisely while they completed each phase of the study. The children were commended for their diligence. With Valentine's Day approaching, the children also explored their creative sides. They wrote adorable valentine cards for their families, glazed, filled, and wrapped their pinch pots, traced, cut, and assembled valentine mobiles, and designed wrapping paper and decorated valentine bags. They also read The 100th Day of School and Will You Bee Mine? and are ready to share them with you this weekend. Please place the books in a special place where they may be read to friends and family often. The snow provided opportunities for the children to reacquaint themselves with fresh clean snow. We were pleased however, that the snow did not interfere with our school week and we were able to have our fourth ice skating lesson as well as Charlie's Birthday on the right day! The birthday cards that the children create for one another are so special and meaningful! The class is getting pretty good doing word family sorts. This week they did a written lesson on the "ap" family. Yeah, our class collected more than thirty BeenieBabies for Second Saturday. The children had a great time delivering valentines to their classmates and sharing them with one another during our party at the end of the day. The paper products were festive, the juice refreshing, the heart-penguin cookies a special surprise, and the grapes, heart-shaped crackers and cheese a great idea. Thanks to Charlie, Bonde, Rosemary, and Reily's moms for making the party so successful. A huge thanks to the families who participated in Car Circle Duty this week, you were greatly appreciated. Please enjoy your many holiday treasures and enjoy spending this special weekend with your families. Boys and girls, thank you for the terrific valentines and yummy candy! Hip, Hip, Hooray for our SK! See you on Tuesday!
