Let it Snow Inside and Out!

Do you know why we had so much snow last week? The children in our class think it might be because we made Snow Wands on Monday, December 7th. We also put snow all over our
evergreen trees, made snowballs for our hall bulletin board, wrote about winter, and even had snowballs on our invitations to the Holiday Sing which will be held in the Virginia Henes Theatre at 9:30 this Thursday. So with all that snow in our classroom we knew snow must be coming, and sure enough when we woke up Tuesday, there way snow here, there, and everywhere in Wisconsin. Wow, did we ever have a great time at recess. Just check out our picture album on the blog and you'll see. Mrs. Camp wanted you visit our special classes to see what has been going on lately. In music the entire preprimary got together to rehearse for the Holiday Sing. Wait until you hear how well we sing. Guess what? You may be singing too! In gym we did an obstacle course that made our bodies do different things like jumping, crawling, and balancing. In French we are beginning to say the name of shapes in French. That will take a little while for us to learn. In Library class we went on the Smart board and said phrases about things that spell the word "snowflake." We learned about the traditions that many of our friends and families do at this time of year. We are looking forward to hearing about the traditions from the rest of our classmates this week. Mrs. Camp is planning to share a tradition with us too. Did you know that we did a graph that asked if we have evergreen trees in our yards Twelve of us said "yes"we have evergreens in our yard and one friend said "no". We tallied real pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters and said the value of each of the coin. Later in the week we tallied coins by rolling a die. We even counted the tallies by fives and added each group of coins. Oh yes, these are math skills that we are just beginning to explore. We also used a beanbag to count by tens to one thousand several times last week. Remember it's easy to count with your friends helping, especially since one thousand is such a big number even if you are counting by tens! Speaking of numbers, thanks you for helping us collect mitten, scarves, and hats. This Thursday afternoon we will be tallying them and then sending them to LaFollette School on Friday. Mrs. Lengh invited us down to her office to pick up some mittens she wanted to donate to us and when we went into her office Mr. Ghory, Mr. Bach, Mrs. Nobusch, and Mrs. Lengh were there. We just smiled and sang the Mitten Tree song and put the mittens on the tree. I wonder what they were talking about? Snow? Before closing the blog please remember to send in two dozen cookies on Wednesday, for the class party on Thursday. Don't forget to send play clothes so the children may change into play clothes after the Holiday Sing. Have your child wear PJ's to school Friday morning, we're having a Pajama Day. What a special way to end the school year! See you soon!

  1. Dear Mrs. Camp and the SK Snowmakers,
So it was you guys who caused all that snow! Hmmm... I may have to hide those wands:) When I say you are a class of busy beavers, that is just what I mean! I can see how hard you have been working making your snow wands, preparing for your concert (I cannot wait for that by the way), sharing all your great winter traditions and learning new French words!! Not to mention collecting mittens and making snow trees...oh my goodness, how do you fit it all in?

I think wearing pijamas this Friday is going to be awesome. Do you mind it I wear mine too? So cozy!

If there is even an extra spot in your class, I want it! For sure, count me in. Do not forget, OK??

You are so fun to watch. Hugs! Mrs. Jochmann
